ACT is go!

Afternoon all, and welcome to the start of something: ACT is now active.

We are now an officially a registered charity (no. 1176790), and will shortly be setting up a Virgin Giving page for donations with gift aid. This is really happening.

This is the start of a personal mission. I was diagnosed with Arrythmogenic Cardiomyopathy in 2007 after suddenly collapsing while playing sport at school. I have experienced first hand the effect that this disease can have, how it can come from nowhere, and the impact it can have on family and loved ones.

I was lucky, many people are not. It is said that 12 people under the age of 30 die from undiagnosed heart conditions each week in the UK alone, and this number is increasing. As a result, I have set up ACT (Arrythmogenic Cardiomyopathy Trust) to support important research projects into the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

Please take some time to explore our sleek new website, where you will find details of upcoming events, projects we are supporting and other fundraising opportunities. There will also be photo albums, news updates, world class shopping opportunities and whimsical blogging. Watch this space.

In the meantime, make sure to follow us on Twitter @ACTHeartCharity and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ACTHeartCharity to stay updated.

Thank you for your support.

James
